Mission StatementThe Catholic Newman Club is a Catholic organization of students, faculty and staff who seek to form the Christian conscience, help members appropriate the Catholic faith, educate for justice, facilitate personal development and form leaders for the future. About NewmanThe Catholic Newman Club was named after Cardinal John Henry Newman, a man who searched for the truth and intellectual order, and lived his life consequentially. The Newman Club seeks to encourage its members to search for the truth and meaning throughout their lives; thereby gaining the joy that comes from discovering the truth, which comes with reason. "The human spirit must be cultivated in such a way that there results a growth in its ability to wonder, to understand, to contemplate, to make personal judgements, and to develop a moral and social sense"

Hello, my name is Martin Dinh. I am a former transfer student from Fullerton College and now a Communications Major with an emphasis on Journalism. I have a God son named Kaden who is 3 years and is preparing me for parenthood because I truly see him as my own son and he helps me to be a stronger individual. I was named after St. Martin De Porres who my parents prayed to before I was born. You can find me playing basketball, listening to music, writing, or sometimes trying to read the gospel. My experience at the Newman club has changed my life so drastically that you wouldn't have believed the life I was living before I came to the Newman Club. If you would like to know you can just ask me personally, I am a very open person and I enjoy meeting new people, after all my occupation is a waiter-so I meet new people everyday. I am grateful that I became a part of the Newman Club because never before in my life have I been proud to be a Catholic and been able to embrace my Catholic faith and that is because of EVERYONE I have encountered in the club. My plan for the Newman Club is to have fellowship with everyone I encounter and ultimately to help place God at the center of our lives to help us all grow spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. As of right now in my life I am on my journey to try and find God in my life, so I might be able to walk with him someday. Will you join me on my journey? |

I am Deacon Abel Zamora. I was ordained seven years ago in the Diocese of San Bernardino. I have been working at this beatifull campus for 28 years now. I started part-time as a student assistant, then was hired full time upon my graduation in 1981 (My major was Computer Information Systems). As an employee of Cal Poly, Pomona, I am the club staff advisor. I see myself, in conjunction with Father John and Heath, my fellow co-advisor, as a helper in fullfilling our club's mission statement (please see mission statement above). I greatly enjoy spending time with the club members as we share in life-lasting experiences. Please feel free to call me (extension 6357) or just drop by my office (98 C7-19). |

Hello! My name is Amanda and I am a Dietetics major. I have been an active member of the Catholic Newman Club since I was a freshman, and now, I have the privilege of being secretary. I am currently a Eucharistic Minister and a Pastoral Council member at my home parish of St. Peter and St. Paul in Alta Loma. I have served as a CORE Member in our Life Teen Youth Ministry, as well as a member of the Life Teen Choir. I enjoy singing, Mass, chocolate, beach trips, adoration, family time, sunny days, flowers, and God's everyday miracles. God has poured out so many blessings upon me so far, and I am super excited to see what He has in store for the rest of my life.
My strength lies in the One who has set me free, and I will forever sing of His glory. |
